Came In a Soap Box

Buffum collection, inventory #11

String of 240 buttons purchased April 1, 2005 from La Crescenta, CA. String had belonged to owner’s great-grandmother. Arrived in oblong leather covered Savon soap box in which it had always been stored. Touch button is x-large brass with hand holding flowers with steel centers. Buttons of interest– original tints red and blue, Statue of Liberty Button (1800’s commemorative), metal basket shaped, composition with flecks, black glass, black glass with silver beetle, caramel glass with molded design of bird and flowers, vegetable ivory, Jacksonian flowers in basket (Kendrick Extra), vegetable ivory sunflower, charm string glass, red composition with black wolf head, Colorado State seal button, green snail 4-hole, angel and knight pictorial, black glass, composition fish, small Ivoroid lily of the valley, black glass with red-gold luster, brass cuff eagle with shield (Goodwin Pat. Jul 75), small picture buttons
