Another Home Made Beauty

String of 906 buttons strung by Susan Buffum for Kelly Buffum on August 10, 2006 while watching a Red Sox game (they lost). Strung from selecting only wire or loop shank buttons from several baskets of antique buttons around the house. Touch button is a large brass button.  Buttons on this string include small Ivoroids, small picture buttons in assorted materials, botanicals, waistcoats, small jeweled buttons, black glass, black glass with lusters, pressed horn, chased, Golden Age and gilt, pewter, small enamels, original tints, cut steels, chinas, laquered, paint on brass, metal with celluloid, glass ball, charmstring, steel cup, brass with MOP insets, clambroth, small drum, rubber (backmarked N.R. Co & Goodyear), steel with shell, abalone, MOP, Cheshire jewel, tole painted, art nouveau designs, small glory button, medium red glass ball button with wire shank.  The majority of buttons are small with a scattering of diminutives, and medium size buttons and a handful of NBS large.
